PRESS RELEASE: TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHWOLD HIRES NEW FIRE CHIEF
FINGAL, ON (8/14/2018) – The Township of Southwold is happy to announce the hiring of Jeff McArthur as the successful candidate for the position of Fire Chief.
Currently the Training Officer with the Township of Southwold, Jeff has dedicated over 14 years to Southwold Fire Services and has completed numerous certifications and training courses to prepare him for the Chief role. Furthermore, Jeff is the current Fire Chief for the municipality of Brooke-Alvinston and has demonstrated positive leadership and effective communication in this role. Jeff is a lifelong Southwold resident and currently resides in the Township with his family and farms in our community.
Chief McArthur also shares his excitement with his new role.

Jeff will be appointed by a resolution of Council at the next meeting on September 10th. Until the resolution of Council can be enacted, Interim Chief Crocker will remain on as Chief, however Jeff will bestarting next week to ensure a smooth transition. Following Jeff’s appointment, Interim Chief Crockerwill be assisting for a short time and then returning to the classroom at Fanshawe this fall.
The Township of Southwold Council, fire department and staff would like to extend our thanks to Interim Fire Chief, Don Crocker, for his tremendous work and diligence during the time he dedicated to our municipality.
